Firmware Flash Recovery for Pentanet Prism / Mercku M2 Router via TFTP

To complete this process, you'll need a Windows PC that is connected directly to your Pentanet Prism / Mercku M2 router via Ethernet cable. You'll also need to know how to change the IP settings on your Ethernet adapter, and be comfortable restoring them back to defaults afterwards.

Step 1 - Download the files you'll need

Download the attached files and store them somewhere handy on your PC.

Step 2 - Change your adapter settings

Type 'Network Connections' in to your start bar, and then select 'View Network Connections':

Locate the Ethernet adapter that is plugged in to your Penanet Prism / Mercku M2 router, then right-click it and select 'Properties':

Select 'Internet Protocol Version 4', and then select 'Properties':

Finally, set the IP addressing according to the following exactly, and then click OK:
(Once you're done, you'll change these back to 'Obtain an IP address automatically'.)

Step 3 - Flash the recovery firmware

Locate the tftp32.exe application, and then click-click to run it as an administrator. Click 'yes' on the prompt that appears:

In the 'server interfaces' dropdown, select the interface that you configured previously. (It will have the IP address 192.168.1.100 on it):

Select the 'Tftp client' tab, enter '192.168.1.6' for the host, and then click the '...' button to select the .bin firmware file:

Finally, click the 'Put' button:

You should see a file transfer take place, which may take a minute or two to complete.

After the transfer, you should see the following confirmation:

Please wait for up to 5 minutes for the device to finish writing the received file to its flash memory. Once this is done, the power LED will turn red and the device will be rebooted with default settings.

The device can now be configured per normal instructions.

Congratulations! The firmware has now been restored.

Step 4 - Restore your IP settings

Repeat step 2 to return to your Ethernet adapter's IPv4 settings. At the final step, select the options to obtain your IP address and DNS settings automatically:
