Here’s how to set up your D-Link Taipan AC3200 Modem/Router for NBN or Fixed Wireless on the Pentanet network. Let’s go!
Before you start, you’ll need the following details.
- PPPoE Username and Password - this is your Pentanet authentication username and password. You can find it in your customer welcome email or in the customer portal.
- Service Type - Pentanet Fixed Wireless or NBN (including your technology type).
On your computer/laptop, connect to the Wi-Fi - you can find the default SSID username and password on a sticker on the back/side of the modem. If you’ve used the TAIPAN before and have changed the login details, use those.
For Pentanet Fixed Wireless, NBN Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) and NBN Fibre to the Curb(FTTC)

Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Login using the default settings:

- If these credentials don’t work, check for a sticker on the bottom of the router. You may need to factory reset the hardware if you can’t find them.
The Set Up Wizard may pop up automatically. Please close it, or select manual configuration.

Click Settings then Internet then Advanced Settings

Find WAN Access and select Residential Gateway and Select Ethernet 1. Click Save - the router may reboot.

Click Settings, then Internet, then IPv4

Enter the following settings:
- Username: Found in your Pentanet Customer Portal
- Password: Found in your Pentanet Customer Portal
- Reconnect Mode: Always On
- Address Mode: Dynamic IP
- IP Address: Leave Blank
- Service Name: Leave Blank
- Primary DNS Server: Leave Blank
- Secondary DNS Server: Leave Blank
- MTU: Leave Blank
- Click Save. You should now be online.
For NBN Fibre to the Node (FTTN) and NBN Fibre to the Basement (FTTB)

Open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Login using the default settings:

Select PPPoE, click next and enter the following details:
- Username: Found in your Pentanet Customer Portal
- Password: Found in your Pentanet Customer Portal
- Click Next

Click Next on Wi-Fi Settings

Create a new device admin password

Skip the ‘mydlink’ section

Click Finish. You should now be online.
Enabling IPv6
Once you’ve configured your device, the last step is to enable IPv6 connectivity.
- Once on the main home screen, click Settings then Internet followed by IPv6
- Enter the following:
- Enable Automatic IPv6 Address Assignment: Enabled
- Enable Automatic DHCP-PD in LAN: Enable
- Autoconfiguration Type: Stateful (DHCPv6)
- Router Advertisement Lifetime: Blank
- Click Save, and test that IPv6 is working correctly by visiting https://ipv6test.google.com/
