If I buy a new modem/router from Pentanet when it will be ready for collection?

  • Updated

When you purchase a new modem/router from us, our team will organise your new modem/router, which will usually take 24 - 48 hours. All of our modems are configured for Plug-and-Play, so you can use it right away.

Once your modem/router is ready for collection, we'll send you an email advising your hardware is ready for collection along with the time, date and location for collection.

For a Fixed Wireless service, your chosen modem/router will be delivered and set up by our installers at the installation appointment.

Do I need to collect the modem/router right after receiving the email?

You don't need to collect your modem/router right away, but it may help speed up the connection process depending on your current internet status. To learn more, select the circumstance below that best suits your situation:

  • As there's an existing service at your address, we want to minimize your downtime during the service change over by lodging the transfer request after you have collected the hardware.

The sooner you come to collect your modem/router after receiving our email confirming that the device is ready for collection, the sooner we will be able to proceed with the transfer of your current service to our network.

If you have an active internet service with another provider at this address, switching providers may attract early termination fees or penalties by your existing provider. It's important that you check what fees apply before proceeding.

  • If the premise has never had an internet service before, this is most likely because the premise is either a re-development or a new development.

In some cases, this might involve a New Development Application with NBN/OptiComm, and could attract a New Development Charge.

You can learn more about New Development Charges, below:

You might have to confirm the type of service available at your premise and in some cases, you may require a technician appointment to complete the installations before we proceed with your service.

Your router can be collected any time before this appointment occurs after you've received a confirmation email from us that the device is ready for collection from our head office.
