Do I really need a static IP address?
A static IP address (that is, a public IPv4 address that is permanently assigned to you, and doesn’t change) is often really necessary if you’re running sophisticated set-ups such as site-to-site VPNs or outgoing email servers. For many homes and small businesses, however, a static IP address is often not actually necessary - and only adds additional cost to your service.
This is particularly the case if you’re using port-forwarding from your router to access devices ‘inside’ your network, such as a media server or security camera system.
If you have our Legacy Amplifi-HD router, you can make use of AmpliFi Teleport, a feature available in the AmpliFi range of routers.
