What is an AVC ID?
An Access Virtual Circuit Identifier (AVC ID) is a 12-digit number that is generated by nbn® and used to uniquely identify every connected nbn service.
You can easily identify your AVC ID as it will begin with the letters AVC, for example 'AVC12355512355'.
Why do I need to supply an AVC ID?
In April 2025, nbn introduced a requirement that in order to transfer from one internet service provider to another, you must provide the AVC ID of the existing service.
You can think of this as an additional verification step intended to help reduce the number of accidental disconnections. It's a positive change for nbn users - and will make for a smoother and more reliable switching process.
This means that anyone joining Pentanet after April 18th must provide their AVC ID.
Where do I find my AVC ID?
Following nbn's changes, all internet providers must make AVC IDs available to their customers. For most providers, your AVC ID will be on your invoice or in your customer portal, otherwise please reach out to your current ISP and ask them.
